I finished up the Sprocket Socks (Ravelry link) I was working on. These are a fun way to use up minis or scrap sock yarn. The pattern has detailed instructions but also has more basic “recipe” where you can easily add in your own personal details. I opted to use 6 instead of 5 colors so the socks would be a bit taller in the calf. I used a sparkly black mini skein for cuffs, toes and heels, and had some of that and plenty of the other colors leftover. I used mostly Spun Right Round minis from a set I picked up last year from her shop. A friend saw these on IG and really liked them, so I’ll be gifting them off to her shortly. I used a Fish Lips Kiss Heel on mine, which the pattern recommends but since the FLKH is a separate pattern, you’d need that to use it. The detailed instructions have you using a regular short-row heel, which I’m not as big a fan of.
I’ve also cast on for a quick hat using a skein of Dragon Hoard Yarn’s DK merino in the color “Goblin Market”. I’m using the Hoarfrost pattern (Ravelry link), which I’ve made before and is just a nice basic broken rib hat. This is really not a color I can wear without looking like the undead but it is fun to knit with. It’ll be going into the Reuben Project’s donation package I’m working on for homeless in downtown Portland.
