FO Friday: Stillness Shawl

Delighted to report I finished up my Stillness shawl (Ravelry link). This design, from Helen Stewart, was originally a mystery KAL but has been out long enough you can get the entire pattern to work on at once.

I used three colors of yarn I had in stash, all fingering/sockweight yarns. The dark purple is Cascade Yarns Heritage Sock in Plum, and the light gray and speckled light purple are both from A Homespun House. The gray is her Dale Fingering in Fog, and the purple is her Bakken in Always.

This is a big, generous wrap. The final rows have over 500 sts in them, so it’s kind of a slog at the end, but it is a fun way to use up 3 skeins of sock yarn and working through each of the different sections keeps you pretty motivated to keep knitting. I used about 75% to 80% of each of the 3 colors, with about 1000 total yards knit up out of stash, so that’s a win (and leftovers to go into a blanket square or two).

This is another off the Year of Projects list and destined as a gift knit for the holidays, where I hope its big enveloping hug will be enjoyed and appreciated.
