I’m slowly finishing up several in-progress things. You saw the finished In Stillness Cardi on Monday already. I decided to cast on the second of the Driftwood Socks before the start of July. I am not 100% sure I will have them finished by July 1st but The Woolly Thistle is hosting a Sock Sprint for 2 weeks starting July 6th and I am going to try to get these finished up by then so I can cast on a new pair of socks. I haven’t picked a specific pattern out for the Sock Sprint yet, however. I’m trying to decide if I want to test an old pattern of my own (although it’s toe-up which isn’t my personal favorite) or try to work on one of Helen Stewart’s Sock Society designs. I’m a bit further along on the leg on the Driftwood Sock #2 but chugging along with it.

As part of a challenge in the Harry Potter Ravelry group, I committed to working through at least 1000 yards of stash yarns by July 19th. I thought the In Stillness Cardigan would get me there, but was about 130 yards short after I weighed the remaining yarn I had so I needed a project to make up the difference. I decided to do a simple Aran-weight hat. I’m using Benjamin Matthews’ Brushwood Beanie (Ravelry link), using Hedgehog Fibres Merino Aran in the colorway “Orion”. I expect this will be a pretty quick knit so I’d like to try to have this finished in June too.

Finally, I’m just about done my Quadrilinear Scarf, designed by Romi Hill. I’m using Hazel Knits merino/soy sock in the colorway “Cabbage Rose”. I have the body repeats finished, and just need to do the final end/corner of it to be completed. This is a fun bias-knit simple lace scarf. I’m impressed with myself I actually got back to it and finished it. I have a terrible track record with scarves as I normally find them very boring to knit but this one was fun. I would recommend weighing your yarn after you finish the initial set-up rows before starting the main chart. That way you’ll know you have enough at the end without having to play yarn chicken to finish it up.

That’s it for this week. I did meet my July checkpoint goal on the Oregon Cardigan this weekend, but I’ll share that on Friday. I’ll have a new cast-on tomorrow for Quidditch match #4 in the HPKCHC group that’ll be the first of my Year of Projects pieces for 2021-2022.
Inspiring projects! Thanks for sharing pix, patterns, and yarn suggestions.
My pleasure – I’m having a great time working thru stash yarn right now!
