January/February 2023 Starts

Knit One, Spin Too

No FO’s today and this post may not be of much interest to readers, but I wanted to document my new starts for the beginning of 2023 to keep a record for myself of this for the 3 challenges I’m using the new starts for in the first two months of the year. My goal for the year is to finish all 31 projects I’m starting.

This weekend, I’m planning to get several of these on the needles, even if it’s just a small start! I’m participating in the Mad Dash challenge over on the Stashdown group in Ravelry from February 11 through the end of March, so we will see how many of these projects I can get finished up!

    1. Will it sound bad if I say I pared this down from the original plans? I actually have most of these in basic Ziplocs so I can find stuff although there are some of those great fabric bags in play too! Thank you!

      1. If I had Ziploc bags with yarn in them, my kittens would just have a field day!!!
        Since 3 on the needles at any one time is more than I can juggle, I bow to you and 31 projects!

  2. Oh. So many great projects already started and more to come. Surely this will make a small dent in your stash once all are completed. If you enjoy having multiple projects on the go, then you go for it. Everyone is different. I gone between multiple projects and monogamous projects. Depends in my mood. Both work for me.

    1. I rarely work this way, but I’m going to give it a go and see how I do with it. I have already worked through some of my oldest stash yarns and it does take the decision-making process out of the picture since you’ve already made all the tough choices. If nothing else, I will enjoy the satifaction of having lots of WIPs to finish.

    1. I gift/donate almost everything I knit. I do save out an occasional hat for myself or my DH if he requests something. My mum’s church does gift bag donations at the holidays for a homeless shelter and I have a palliative care unit I knit the shawls for – so they all go to a good cause and I enjoy the yarn without having to have an entire room of handknits.

  5. I am impressed by your list! I’ve only got a couple of things on the needles right now (and am considering casting on a sweater with stash yarn). I don’t know how you manage to cast on AND THEN FINISH so many things. I get way too distracted. 😉

    1. I really never work this way but I’m trying it out and I can see how the “check it off the list” part of me could get into this method of doing things. OTOH, I don’t love carrying projects on indefinitely so I hope I can stick with it and get a lot of these finished up in the short(ish) term!
