If you caught my FO Friday post, you’ll know I finished up the Brighton socks and Terrain scarf, so I don’t have much on the needles right now for knitting.
I am working on the plain vanilla sock in fall colors here and there. I’m using Fiber Stash Dyeworks Twinkle Toes sock yarn in the color “Hayride”, and adding in contrast heels (maybe toes too – we’ll see when I get there) in The Unique Sheep Luxe Sock in Dark Roast. I have a bunch of travel time and waiting room time this week so I’ll work on this and see how far I get with it.
I have a couple of projects to start this weekend, one is a long scarf and the other is a large shawl. No photos of those yet since I’ve made little headway on either, but will report back next week on those.
I did ply the singles of my current handspun project, and have 404 yards/97 g of a 2-ply fingering weight for this portion of the gradient. I have a total of 280 g, so I’m splitting the spin up into 3 skeins so I don’t have to worry about potentially overloading the plying bobbin. This is the darkest colors of the gradient pack I’m spinning up and I love the moody gray-purple color that the combination of wool and handdyed silk created.

Finally, I’ve finished up both the outer borders on Desert Mandala, including the beading, and I’ve started on the cacti silhouettes and feathers that will outline the final nature corner in this lower left-hand space – getting there!

Have a great week YOP’ers!
Thatโs beautiful spinning and what a lovely colourway!
Thank you! I do love a good moody purple. ๐
Wow, just love that Hayride yarn. So pretty for fall. Contrast color is perfect. Very pretty homespun yarn. I can really see spinning in my future but I’m trying very hard to resist. So many beautiful yarns I can just buy.
Isn’t it fun? I love the colors in it. I find it a very different hobby than knitting but being able to make interesting yarns is part of it for sure.
Hayride is perfect for Fall! I’m thinking I need some Fall yarn. Your spinning is always a treat to see and makes me wish I could..maybe someday. Your cross stitch is amazing and your “sticktoitofness” on such a huge project.
Have a great week ahead!
You definitely need some fall yarn – I love working with seasonal colors. Wish we were closer as I’d love to teach you to spin!
Your spinning fiber is gorgeous. It has a really pretty sheen to it too. Socks are the perfect travel/waiting room project. Great mindless knitting. Your xs is coming along nicely. Is this the last part before it is completed/
I love having a pair of socks on the go for all those waiting times. ๐ I have the bottom center landscape and the nature corner left to do but it’s close!
Lovely assortment of projects! Of course the purple handspun is my favorite!
You have excellent taste ๐
Those fall socks look like a really comfy knit. And your handspun is lovely!
Thank you!!
