Year of Projects 2021-2022: Week 15

This week I’ve been focusing on a non-YOP piece (my Saligna sweater test knit) but did manage to get two of my YOP’s worked on. My DH also has found work travel has kicked back into high gear for him. He’s home this upcoming week but then gone for almost 2, including the weekend, so we spent almost all of yesterday cleaning out the garage and running errands. Definitely needed to be done and I am grateful for his help dragging stuff in and out but whew! it cuts into weekend crafting time!

Cozy Autumn Socks: I cast these on this past week and managed to get the heel turned on sock one. I love these in this pretty “Maple” colorway from Suburban Stitcher. I suspect I will have a fair amount of yardage leftover so this yarn might see a second life as a colorwork hat. Will continue working on these this week as time permits. (The color is a little washed out here. I’m up at dark o’clock this morning with another busy day so wanted to get a photo and post done!)

I also managed to finish up 2 oz of singles for my current BFL/silk roving spin. The colorway is Sirius from Funky Carolina. There’s definitely a darker braid and a lighter braid, which you can see from the singles. We’ll see how this looks all plied up but I think it’ll wind up being fine to use as a blended yarn.

That’s it for me today – have a great week YOP’ers!

  1. Lovely spinning and your Cozy Autumn socks are going to be pretty, love the yarn you are using. Not much time for projects at my end, darn work keeps getting in the way.

  2. Love the pattern you are using for your socks. That is a pretty colorway. Don’t you just love what silk adds to a yarn? Looks like your singles will make an amazing yarn colorway.

  3. Like the commenters before me said, I think the yarn F.O will be fine blended together — looking forward to that finish.

Your socks are just so autumnal — in pattern and yarn selection. You have another winner on your hands here.

  4. Pretty color on your socks. I like the pattern too. Your spinning looks great and that color of so pretty. Cleaning out a garage is not a fun job but so nice when it is completed.

  5. I think once that spin is plied it will be amazing. I like the dark and light of it. I liked your expression dark o’clock. I seem to often want to take pictures at that time too!

  6. I know what you mean about weekend projects taking up knitting time! Even with a full day of work on weekdays, it often feels like I get more knitting done on weekdays than weekends. Both the socks and the handspun are looking great!

  7. I love your handspun and the Maple yarn is so pretty….I need a fall yarn and that one is perfect for this time of year. I’ve been clearing and cleaning too before winter comes….especially outside work. Have a good week!

  8. Such a pretty pattern on those socks, will you wear them with a skirt in autumn so you can show them off. I only wear socks with trousers which is why I haven’t tried pretty patterns like these. I think your spinning will look lovely once plied.

    1. Thank you and I agree! Probably not a skirt – I’m more of a jeans and a sweater sort of girl – but I do tend to wear open-backed clogs and I like just being able to see the peek of patterning and color from my socks that way.

  9. The Funky Carolina colors are great. I think they will look good together. That sock pattern is pretty. Love the fall colors!
