Short and sweet update for this week.
Stillness Shawl: I’m just over the 75% mark on this one – it’s going to be huge. I have 3 rows left of the stockinette and eyelets band, and then one more section of easy lace to finish out the pattern. The rows are LONG now with 521 stitches per row, so “just one more row” takes a while, but I’m in the home stretch and hoping I can finish this one this week.

I pulled the fiber for my next spinning project. This is a 75/25 blend of BFL wool and silk – one of my favorites to spin. The colorway is “Sirius Black” from Funky Carolina. She did a whole Harry Potter series when she was still operating her dye business and I have loads of other colors from the series to enjoy. This will be the last batch for my mixed-lot sweater spin in grayish-teal-blues.

That’s it for me this week! Working on a bunch of other test or preview knitting pieces so those are taking up most of my crafting time right now, but will keep on chipping away at the YOP list in between. Have a great week YOP’ers!
It looks so warm! 💜
I think it will be like a nice big hug. 🙂
521 stitches! WOW! That is going to be a huge shawl. But it is so pretty. Your Sirius Black is aptly named. He was such a dark character…………..most of the time.
HUGE. But sometimes those are the kind of comfort projects you need in your life. 🙂
Such a beautiful shawl…it will be so cozy! I have a major stash of Funky Carolina and miss her. I never knew she did a Harry Potter series, what a bummer as I would have bought be colors! Love the Sirius Black colorway.
Carrie had such great color sense. Yah… I probably got too many of those HP themed braids when they came out but I could NOT resist them!
Your shawl looks great. Those long rows are so frustrating which is why I like focusing on stitches instead of rows. Love the fiber you will be spinning up.
It’s a truth. It’s just hard to rewire the brain to not think in rows sometimes!
That shawl will be amazing! I can’t wait to see it! This is why I made test knits a part of my YoP goal, I felt bad working on projects that were “not on the list” which then felt silly!
Ooh that fibre looks lovely! You’re really doing well with that shawl, I can’t believe how quickly you’re getting through it.
I can’t wait to get it on the wheel. It’s the last big lot I have to spin for the sweater so it’s a goal!
I’m sat reading your post in a BFL/silk yarn cardigan and I can understand why you like it so much. (Mine isn’t handspun but I do enjoy spinning BFL and using it for felting too. Wow that’s a lot of stitches, 425 stitches is the most I have had on one project and if I said ‘one more row’ that meant watching another hour long TV show haha. Hope you love it when its finished.
I think it’s a really versatile blend – great for shawls or cowls too. Yeah… these are LONG LONG rows but I’m in the home stretch!
I love the look of that fiber! It’s going to make great yarn. I need to get out my wheel, too. I have some “new” fiber (bought over a year ago now) that I’ve been meaning to spin up.
I feel you in this. I have been good and not bought fiber to spin in a LONG time but I have a massive stash backlog that I want to get made into yarn! We need a cheering section – let me know when you need a nudge!
Will do! I do love the accountability aspect of blogging. 🙂
I love your Stillness shawl…gorgeous! I also got into your book reviews and your 101 things to do in 1001 days? Fascinating! I was wondering where the Fall Book Challenge was. I would like to do both the challenge and the 101 things list….I take it you make your own list of 101 things. Your spinning and fleece are so interesting. I am being pulled towards spinning…it’s just a matter of time! LOL! Have a great week and thank you for the inspiration!
Thanks for your kind words, Sandra! The 101 Things list website with suggestions can be found over on http://www.dayzeroproject.com. You can put a list together over there (it’s free but not required – you can certainly make your own list in a journal or wherever you like best). If you head over to Tia’s Youtube channel here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4F855Kje76k) she has a short video on the fall challenge and links to the graphics/trackers in the comment on the video. There are 3 book bloggers who are hosting it but she’s the one I know. There’s a tracker board for either 15 or 24 books on there but again, not required to use those. You’re welcome to pull the themes and do your own thing. Let me know if you need more enabling! 🙂
