Progress continues on my Stillness Shawl, design by Helen Stewart. I hit the 50% mark on it this week, and I’m now working on the textured star section in the silver gray. I’ll keep working along on this over the next week and see if I can get to around the 75% mark.

This week, the small red buttons I was waiting on also arrived and I took the opportunity to get those attached and then finished up my Vintage Campers wool applique project. This came as mostly a kit with the fabric and most of the buttons (not sure what happened but I was missing 2 of the small red ones, and all of the small white ones that were supposed to go on the trees on top of the camper. I substituted a gold metallic thread for some long-stitch embroidery instead and I really like how that turned out.) I also used red thread to buttonhole-stitch the front to the plain black backing since I wanted it to show up a bit more than the black thread that was called for. The pattern is from Buttermilk Basin and it was a really fun stitch. I’m planning on using it on the holiday table with a Lenox vase I was given from a great-aunt – I usually put greenery of some kind in it. It’s not too big and not too small – just right for this piece.

So one more project crossed off the “finished” list. I haven’t decide which applique project I’ll pick up next but it will likely be a smaller “mug rug” sized one out of the monthly series of kits I have, either December, October or July.
Your shawl looks great. The applique is so fun for Christmas. I look forward to the next project.
Thanks! I haven’t decided on the next one up, but thinking I might be in the mood for another December/holiday-themed one.
Excellent, a finished project and it goes so well with that vase. Great shawl progress, I love those colours together.
Thank you so much! I’m happy anytime I can work with purple and/or gray (grey).
The camper project turned out so sweet. The vase looks wonderful on it. Perfect size too. That shawl is going to be large. How nice to have something so pretty to wrap up in.
Thank you! I’m really happy with it. And yes to big shawls! 🙂
I just love that appliqued mat. And your vase looks perfect on it. 🙂
Thank you! I’m really happy with it!
That applique project is so charming!
Thank you! I think it turned out very cute! 🙂
I am sad we no longer get to see photos of your gorgeous campervan table decoration, but look forward to seeing what your next appliqué project will be. It looks great with that vase.
Thanks so much! I am going to enjoy having it out for the holidays 🙂
Your shawl is gorgeous! I love Helen Stewart patterns as she writes them so you can tell how far you are on the project. Brilliant! The applique mat is so darn cute! Your vase is beautiful and it fits on there perfectly. I need to get back to my applique but need to order some wool for it. I am in the mood to finish things. Have a great week and I can’t wait to see your next preoject.
Doesn’t she have wonderful patterns? I have all of her socks queued up for someday! 🙂 I wind up being in a finish mood every fall too – must be something on the wind. Hope your week is off to a fine start.
I love the camper applique mat! It is truly perfect for your vase (and a beautiful vase it is).
The shawl looks awesome! I love all those colors together.
Thank you! (Agreed about the vase. I loved it as a kid so it was super that my great-aunt remembered that and gifted it to me!)
The holiday applique project looks great! I haven’t done much crafting other than knitting lately, and seeing how this turned out makes me miss the variety. Maybe I’ll get back to cross stitch again soon.
I find mixing it up a bit keeps me more motivated to work through various things. I enjoy x-stitch too…. I just don’t post about it here but maybe I should if it’ll spur you on 😉
LOL! I think I just need to break out of my crafting rut. I also have lovely fiber waiting to be spun up that I want to get to soon.
Your Christmas mugrug/vase rug is so beautiful
Thanks so much!
