Off to a good start, although a bit misleading since I did start the Lightweight Hipster scarf (Ravelry link) before July 1 as I wanted to use it for another challenge’s project. It’s actually completely finished and blocked – I did the last bits on July 1 to turn in as a finished piece for the Quidditch match #4 in the Harry Potter Group. Very happy with this one. I used up almost every yard of the skein of Sock Pixie Pure Merino (colorway Chicory Fairy). This had languished in stash for over a decade and honestly, I’m not sure why. The non-superwash merino was soft and lovely to work with, and the handpaint was a very subtle one with teal-y blues and greens. I’m on the fence about whether to keep this (I think it’d be fun in the neckline of a denim jacket I wear a lot in the fall) or if it’s going into the giveaway box.
I also cast on two other YOP projects this week: the Frostwork Scarf by Susanna IC (Ravelry link), which I’m knitting in Berocco’s Ultra Alpaca in a winter white
and the Foss for Women sweater by Jennifer Toland (Ravelry link) using the Woodsong Farm’s hand-dyed Finn/CVM fingering weight from their farm store.
I’ve also been slowly spinning more singles for the Tour de Fleece. While I haven’t had a ton of time to devote to spinning, I AM at least sticking to my 15 minutes a day goal. I’ll be working on this last 2 oz of singles for a while and probably will have a few days where I don’t spin when we’re camping this month, but it is amazing how much little bits of time add up over an entire month (or year).
Happy with what I’ve accomplished for this first week!
